because you story is awesome. I know nothing spectacular or anything happened in this chapter so far like your amazing battle scenes or anything, but things like this balance it out and give the story a very realistic sense
Same holds true for different techniques, if you have all neat coloring for 6 pages in a comic, and then suddenly you throw in the rough, quick, gestural and painterly page, everyone will think that last painting is cool. But if you use the rough painting all the way without the contrast of the neat pages, it will look unfinished.
So it's all about what to use at what moment, the ones that are bright and shining and entertaining (ex: battle scene, cute things, jokes, spectacular scenes) will not be shining unless there's the solid stuff (the story plot with twist and turns, developed characters) to back it up and give them substance.
Its interesting how you mentioned "battle scene" because it's coming up.
