Why did this picture take that long?
It took me over half a year to get this thing done.

Medium:
Corel Painter 9, Photoshop CS2, pencil

Detailed progress: [link]

About the characters:
The one with a glass of wine is Joseph Alarico, a Mamon noble and lord.

The one with the hat and a staff is Complex, a sorcerer.

The one with the armor and horned skull mask is Vaka, a knight of the Alarico family.

Very nice, but what happened to the sword? It looks like it disappeared into the wood, and it seems too long to be that short, if you get what I mean.

I also love your comic, 2Masters :)

mamon is related to the word Mammon, which means money. :P At least from the version I understand.

Strange concept, but I like it.Very creative of you.Mammon is actually more of a name, the name of a fallen angel,a demon to be exact.A demon that gains power from man's greed and because no human is free from greed....Well you get the picture.I hope to see more of this soon hehe~

From Wiki: Webster's dictionary defines 'Mammon' as: 1) the false god of riches and avarice. 2) riches regarded as an object of worship and greedy pursuit; wealth as an evil, more or less personified.[1] Winston defines it to mean: 1) wealth, worldly gain; 2) greed for riches; cupidity.[2] Oxford defines: god of wealth, regarded as evil or immoral; 'those who worship mammon' = greedy people who value money too highly.[3]

It could be both, Satan, or Lucifer is more direct reference to that fallen angel, I believe.

You're right there, but in some accounts Mammon was an angel the fell in love with human wealth thus making him a fallen angel.

interesting, if you find it, let me see the reference. :D

Well there is no direct reference, because this is still a theory. In the book Paradise Lost, written by John Milton,Mammon is a fallen angel that valued earthly treasures over everything else, and he worked under Satan/Lucifer.Though most other accounts state that Mammon is just a word to describe greed, and is often mixed with Beelzebub who is the demon of Gluttony. That's as far as I know. There is more, but I doubt any of them are useful or even related :D

Paradise lost sounds like a fictional title... O_o *looks it up* yeah, I believe its a fiction by a European Christian author, based on the bible, the bible itself never directly said Mammon is a fallen angel, but it could be implied as such, which is probably what the book is played off here.

I won't use it as a reliable resource, it's as reliable as C.S lewis' fictional novel Narnia, and the book Pilgrims. XD

The scene has a warm, rich feel with understated, tasteful opulance -- opulence focused on the seated man on the left (he is clearly in charge here, and perfectly happy with his situation). The room shows several personal touches, from the flower arrangement to the lone rose, carelessly stacked books, macabre paperweight, and subtly patterned red drapes.

The secondary characters are as different as can be, and say a lot about each other and the man in charge. One is a hulking, powerful "hitman" type, imposing in his own way; yet he silently waits his master's bidding and will vanish obediently the instant the seated man speaks, passing under the high windows to some unseen doorway.

The other man is more the "court fool" type, with his fine dress and subservient body language. He could be just an amusement, a skilled assassin, a spy, a soft-spoken advisor. Who knows? He may be smaller than the skull-faced servant, but is probably more dangerous in his own way; a potentially lethal unknown quantity. Of the three, he's the most mysterious.

Fascinating character interplay.

Honestly, if you hadn't told me that you wanted in-depth feedback, I would still feel redundant leaving the 50th/100th/200th etc comment. =D But you let me know I wasn't, so I'm pleased to be of genuine use. :aww:

nice detailed piece :]
Like the texture you used on the drapes.
Some tips I reckon to make Joseph stand out more as the focal point would be reduce the amount of light on Complex (use rim lighting) and Darken Vaka but use the torches in the BG to pop out his silhouette.
Good to see you using other brush techniques too

But it's beautiful... wow. I already looked at the tutor for it too... I think I would have driven myself mad with it... Wait, I am driving myself mad with these paints (one for the flat fact I can't paint it because I can't open my windows when it's freezing outside....)

Beautiful. I think the flowers are a bit detailed in the consapt of the rest of the picture, but they are beautiful. I like the guy closest to the viewer. I have always liked the feel of something cutting into the foreground.
