For my long time DA pal, supporter and fan,
The progress for:

Medium: Corel painter 9, mainly dry brush and soft blender brush, and eraser. Painter makes it easy to blend colors.
The whole piece only looks complicated because of how many shapes are involved, the lighting and details. Overall, it's actually a very simple piece, great for foundation study.
You can try to copy it if you want to. I dare you~ lol~
You can find a large copy of the original here:

It's a piece that deals with 3 point perspective, central focus, no twist and turn... I learned a GREAT DEAL about the lighting effects from it, majority of the piece deal with BASIC SHAPES UNDER THE SUN LIGHT AND SKY LIGHT.
To sum it up, it's like drawing a bunch of plastic boxs, cones, and shapes on top of one another.... if it's not for the colors... it's only tedious work.
Seriously... this piece has no secret, but yes it's hard to do, where is it hard?
The amount of time I have to take.
I practically just take most of the reference from the original artist... so... I can not take credit for the colors or most of the composition, except a few of my own touches.
I think the original artist spent about 50 hour to 80 hours on it... I only spent 35-45 hours, probably just half of the efford from the original.
INCREDIBLE
I hated learning 3-pt. perspective...
