Most of you should have realized.... this is the SAME guy from Edepth Angel, Lien Lei.

I do use my characters repeatively, why? Because I see no point recreating characters that will just look similar to each other, and having develop them each time i have a new story, so I use them repeatively, so you can see different aspects of them.

its really more western influenced that I use them this way... but for some ppl, their characters are actors just like mine. ^_^ It's not a new thing, just a few asian artists thought of using it.

Actually, I'm wondering about your reusing of characters : does it mean it's the *exact* same chara, or are you just using his design and maybe his overall... temper, but set in a whole new world with a whole new story? I think the idea is really nice but since there are a few blurry details... here I ask ;)

hmm.... hmm.... just picture this... they are actors that goes to act in different movies, each carry their own personality that will not be changed, and mainly I don't change the names unless i have to.
Their roles change, but changes according to what they can do, and the kind of role they are best at.

They are anime actors, you can call them, and I am the director.

Sounds awesome ^^. Anime charas having a life half way between the paper and the anime universe :D. Is this also related to the whole "directors" thing you have? :)

sorry for the late reply i missed it.

yes, i figured that i rather have my characters, the same ones already developed and use them over for the new story, that way i do not have to develop them all over, and they can change according to needs, its really convient for me to connect back to the readers, and for me to make a new start.

(It's ok, I'm not often on DA anyway ^^)

I thought about the whole thing and I just spotted a few possible problems : mostly the fact that someone who isn't following all your work and the way you use the characters might end up lost. I must admit I was at some point : I thought a few of your lighthearted comics where actually small comical spoofs of the serious stories but with the actual characters. Now I realize they were probably totally different.
Another thing is that, as with real actors, people will end up associating a particular role to the character and it will be hard to think of them as someone else in another story. I'm thinking of the long black haired guy (see, I still don't know the name, wah ;_; ) here, E-Depth one :). It's a good thing when it comes to their behaviour since you seem to use them for particular mindsets (the rough one, the shy one, etc...) but their whole stories might also... "smear" (?) on their new roles I think.

Well in the end I guess it mostly hurts the casual reader compared to an addicted fan (I'm kinda half-way between both ^^; )

Yeah, I noticed those problems. lol~Sometimes I am a bit too lazy to introduce all over again, but i tend to do so in my larger series. :P

About freshness in the story roles, there will come a time when i just decide to use completely different characters... or make them completely unnoticable, who knows. But so far it worked for me despite the problems it might create.
