1. The title and cover art have to capture my attention. 2. I read the summary on the back or inside flap. 3. I read the first two pages to decide if it's written well.
I read the summary to see if the book is about something interesting. Even if it isn't about something particularly interesting to me, I'll still read it if it's written really well. I can't stand books that sound like they were written by ten-year-olds without editing.
titles and cover catch my eye first of course and if synopsis whereever it is (inside cover or back cover) sounds good I shall check out or buy depending where I am (bookstore or library)
Well mostly i am interested in Fantasy Romans so to check them i look at the summary on the back, sometimes on the Book Cover Art. In Library i simply pick a book since the summary or the art doesnt tell you how good a book is
Lol I do all of these... though the reading the end of the book part has been only a couple of times. I have read the back/inside flip and a few sentences/first page then read the last page and see how I liked it. But mainly it's been that I'm attracted to the cover of things lol (I'm so visual...) but then I read the back/inside cover and scan over the first page
So "Other" since I do all kinds of things to those books, hehe.

Example: Uglies series. Or basically any manga.
